The Love Thy Neighbor (LTN) Walk is organized to engage women from a diversity of faith backgrounds in a greater understanding of the different faith traditions in Roanoke. It involves an annual walking tour of churches in a three-mile radius with time for presentations and discussions.
The LTN Action Team, led by Barbara Duerk and Regina Jones, will plan the LTN Walk and coordinate our involvement with Roanoke Justice Ministries and other community peace-related initiatives.
Ready, Set, Read! Action Team, led by Jennie Waering and Connie Crawford, coordinates our continuing relationship with Kids Soar and explores ways for us to be involved with other school-based and after-school programs, particularly those related to literacy.
The Advocacy for Affordable and Safe Housing Action Team, led by Virginia Sweet and Pat Hill, will spearhead our ongoing advocacy efforts with local policymakers and members of the General Assembly and report to the membership on the work of the Blue Ridge Interagency Council on Homelessness.
The Community Engagement and Support Action Team, led by Kathleen Claytor and Paula Mitchell, will coordinate our direct-service efforts as we continue to provide assistance to organizations like the Rescue Mission, Christian Soldiers Food Pantry, and Roanoke's Housing Assistance Team (HAT) which helps those who are unhoused or at risk of homelessness.
